Royalties from the sale of each May Gibbs commemorative birth certificate go to help people living with disabilities (the Cerebal Palsy Alliance and the Northcott Society).

The May Gibbs Commemorative birth certificates:
  • are available to purchase on their own ($39)
  • can be purchased as a package with a standard birth certificate ($84)
  • are presented in a framing size of 279mm x 355mm
  • are printed on archival paper, wrapped in acid-free tissue paper and packaged in a protective cylinder
  • are for decorative purposes only and may not be accepted by organisations as proof of identity.

Who can apply 

You can apply for a commemorative birth certificate if you are the person named on the certificate or a parent of the person. You must provide at least three forms of identification with your application.

If you would like to purchase a commemorative birth certificate for a friend you must:

  • complete a Letter of Authority [PDF 90kb], giving permission for you to apply
  • provide three forms of identification for yourself and the person you are applying for.

Birth certificate

May Gibbs 

Author and illustrator, May Gibbs has captured the hearts and imaginations of generations of Australians with her lovable bush characters and fairy-tale landscapes and in 2018 we celebrate 100 years since we were first introduced to Snugglepot and Cuddlepie.

When she died, May Gibbs bequeathed her works to The Northcott Society and Cerebral Palsy Alliance. Through her foresight, May Gibbs has helped thousands of Australian children with disability and their families.
