​Commemorative marriage certificate

    Celebrate this special moment in your life with a commemorative marriage certificate. Whether you're celebrating a recent union or anniversary, a commemorative certificate is a perfect way to remember your special day.

    Commemorative marriage certificates:

    • can be purchased as a package with a standard marriage certificate
    • are available to purchase on their own
    • are presented in a framing size of 279mm x 355mm
    • are printed on archival paper, wrapped in acid-free tissue paper and packaged in a protective cylinder
    • are for decorative purposes and may not be accepted by organisations as proof of identity.

    You can apply for a commemorative marriage certificate if the marriage occurred in New South Wales. Commemorative certificates are only available to either person named on the certificate or their authorised representative.

    You must provide three forms of current ID, one of each from Categories 1, 2 and 3. If you’re unable to provide ID from Categories 1 and 2, you must still provide at least three forms of ID. At least two of these must be from Category 3. If you’re unable to comply with these requirements, please contact us for further advice.

    ​Identification documents
    If born in Australia:

    • An Australian birth certificate
    Record of immigration status:

    • Citizenship certificate
    • New Zealand citizenship certificate together with passport
    • New Zealand birth certificate
    • Australia's driver's licence
    • Australian passport
    • Firearms licence
    • Foreign passport
    • Proof of age card
    • ​Medicare card
    • Centrelink or Department of Veterans Affairs card
    • Security/Crowd control licence
    • Tertiary education institution ID card
    • ​Recent utility account with current residential address (issued within last 3 months)

    Processing time

    Processing begins when we have received your complete and correct application. Commemorative certificates are sent by parcel post from our printing agency and may take longer to arrive. Priority service is not available for commemorative certificates. Commemorative certificates cannot be collected in person from a Registry office.
