Deaths

This section provides information about how deaths are registered in New South Wales. Once a death has been registered (usually by the funeral director) you can also apply for a death certificate. You can also find information on applying for a section 50 search with the Registry in this section.

Have you experienced the recent loss of someone close to you?

We are working with our fellow agencies to help make the processes and administration around end of life simpler for people to manage. If in the last two years you've experienced the loss of someone close to you or if you've had experience in estate distribution or probate, and would like to get involved, the Life Journeys team would love to hear from you.

Please email lifejourneys@finance.nsw.gov.au for more details.
